As we all know, if Sean Bean is in a movie, the odds that his character will end up dying are a lot higher than most. But we like the guy, so we hope his appearance in this potential franchise starter won't be his last.
Gearing up to start shooting soon in London, The Wachowskis have cast Bean alongside Channing Tatum, Mila Kunis and Eddie Redmayne in their latest sci-fi venture, "Jupiter Ascending." The story centers on a toilet-scrubbing Russian immigrant (Kunis) who actually has the same genetic makeup as the immortal Queen Of The Universe, and thus threatens her rule. A bounty hunter is then dispatched to take her down (Tatum), but they fall in love and go on the run. Bean's role is said to be that of a Han Solo-esque character named Stinger, the news of which just made a million nerds overexcited.
No release date on this one yet, but let's just hope it steers clear of the Nu Age we're-all-connected-zomg stuff of "Cloud Atlas" and just delivers a solid genre piece. And with plans to try and top bullet time, there's no doubt we'll be paying close attention. [Deadline]
