Woody Harrelson‘s 2017 plans now include going to a galaxy far, far away. Early last week, word first emerged that the actor was in early talks for the Han Solo “Star Wars” spinoff, and it looks like those discussions were fruitful.
The official “Star Wars” site confirms that Harrelson has been cast in the film, which includes Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, and Emilia Clarke. That said, there’s no word on what role he’ll be playing, so we’ll have to see how that early chatter that he’s playing a “mentor” will pan out (and bear in mind, like ‘Rogue One,’ anything can be changed as development continues). However, directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are excited to have the actor aboard.
“We couldn’t be more excited to work with an artist with as much depth and range as Woody,” they said in a statement. “His ability to find both humor and pathos, often in the same role, is truly unique. He is also very good at ping pong.”
The Han Solo flick will arrive in 2018.
