Got a Tip?

First ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ Clip Features Gal Gadot & A Glimpse Of Darkseid

While we don’t know exactly when “Zack Snyder’s Justice League,” aka The Snyder Cut, is hitting HBO Max, it is arriving sometime in 2021. And just as you would with any major superhero film, the marketing and hype machine is already churning, as we are now given our first look (technically isn’t Joss Whedon’sJustice League” the first look at the Snyder Cut?) at the upcoming release.

Zack Snyder shared the new clip on his Twitter, while also hyping the upcoming DC Fandome virtual event (the comic book company’s version of Comic-Con created in light of the San Diego event being canceled). And though the clip isn’t very long and doesn’t have much context, there is plenty here that will have the Snyder Cut faithful going absolutely crazy.

First, we fully support anything that showcases Gal Gadot as Diana Prince, considering her portrayal of Wonder Woman is probably the single best thing to come out of Snyder’s run on the DC films. Second, the thing that is probably going to have people freak out the most is the first look at Darkseid, initially as some sort of cave painting and then as a flashback to his home on Apokolips.

Since Snyder first started teasing his version of “Justice League,” he made it explicitly clear that Darkseid (think DC’s version of Thanos) was the big bad he originally had in mind. However, when the film was finally released, with all of Warner Bros.’ involvement and Joss Whedon’s overhauled script, the villain of Steppenwolf was given the center stage. This is a decision that definitely didn’t work out well for the final film, as the villain is one of the weakest parts of Whedon’s version of “Justice League.”

Again, we don’t know when “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” will get its HBO Max debut, likely sometime in 2021, but it appears the promotion is already starting. Look for more at DC Fandome on Saturday, August 22—a free virtual fan experience where no badge is required.
