As someone that spends his days writing about the latest films and TV series, I have to admit that there’s really no way any one person can keep up with the avalanche of content that is being produced nowadays. With streaming platforms spending insane amounts of money on hundreds of TV shows and films, it’s just impossible to know everything about every project. But that means that sometimes one will sneak up on you and genuinely surprise you in the best possible way. For me, that’s Amazon’s upcoming series, “ZeroZeroZero.”

As seen in the new trailer for “ZeroZeroZero,” the show is focused on a massive drug shipment of cocaine on a boat. That might seem a bit boring, but the story doesn’t just involve one group of bad guys trying to import drugs. No, the limited series also shows how this one shipment affects the buyers, sellers, and brokers, which includes a cast filled with the likes of Andrea Riseborough (damn near perfect in everything she does), Gabriel Byrne, and Dane DeHaan.
Perhaps best of all, director Stefano Sollima helped create the series and helms all of the episodes. Sollima, most recently, directed “Sicario: Day of the Soldado,” which didn’t necessarily receive the best reviews but is definitely an underrated action film. In addition, he is the director of the “Gomorrah” TV series, which is an international hit crime series that has received incredible reviews in almost all territories that it premiered in.

And while forgetting about a series with a great cast, an awesome director, and a truly intriguing story isn’t a good look for an editor of a movie/TV website such as this, it does mean that my anticipation won’t be very long. “ZeroZeroZero” is expected to hit Amazon Prime Video on March 6. So, in just one month, we’ll be able to see how great the crime drama actually is.
