There has been a lot of talk about cultural appropriation and whether or not the upcoming live action adaptation of the classic anime “Ghost In The Shell” has crossed any lines. The verdict is still out, but the fist peek at what’s coming has been revealed in a series of new teasers that debuted tonight during the season finale of “Mr. Robot.”
Directed by Rupert Sanders (“Snow White And The Huntsman“), and led by Scarlett Johansson, the film follows a female Special Ops cyborg who is part of an elite task force called Section 9 that’s devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists. And the cast is intriguingly international with supporting roles filled out by Beat Takeshi Kitano, Juliette Binoche, Michael Pitt, Pilou Asbæk, Kaori Momoi, Chin Han, Danusia Samal, Lasarus Ratuere, Yutaka Izumihara and Tuwanda Manyimo.
“Ghost In The Shell” opens on March 31, 2017.
