We know “Game Of Thrones” is winding down, and showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss have already suggested there may only be two seasons left. And those two seasons could come in truncated form, in reality there are only thirteen episodes left, as has been suggested, after the sixth season. One of the show’s directors has seemingly confirmed that plan.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, filmmaker Jack Bender — who directed two episodes of the current season — told the magazine he wasn’t sure if he was coming back for season seven. “They’re only doing seven [episodes], and they’ve got their regulars who have done it forever.”
Some of this isn’t exactly new, but it does sound like confirmation of ideas in the wind. The showrunners have said the series could end after season eight and it’s possible HBO —who will want to protract the success of the show as much as possible — could make prequels to keep the “Game of Thrones” gravy train running (which sounds more and more likely given how difficult a year HBO has had).
Meanwhile, Vulture reports that “Twin Peaks” season three —or at least the follow-up series to a show that went off the air more than twenty years ago— will arrive in the second quarter of 2017 (April-to June traditionally) on Showtime. It’s only a tiny piece of information, but that shifts slightly from early 2017 and hell, David Lynch is back making narrative TV after swearing off film, so let him take all the time he needs.
