The cult favorite, instantly quotable “The Big Lebowski” might not be the best Coen Brothers movie, but it’s arguably their most popular. No other movie from the directors’ catalog has it’s own festival, nor is any picture as readily quotable. And as it usually follows, sequel or spin-off talk have been in the air for years, with John Turturro in particular eager to make his own movie about his slimy Jesus Quintana. The Coens themselves have long resisted the idea of any kind of followup, but the man himself — His Dudeness, or Duder, or El Duderino if you’re not into the whole brevity thing — has weighed in.

Chatting with Business Insider, Bridges said that Tuturro’s concept is a “great idea” and he’d be into making a cameo, but he’s also up for a full blown followup for “The Big Lebowski,” and has figured out what the general premise might be.
“I’m hoping they make a little Lebowski [sequel] because it’s all set up,” he explained. “I impregnated Maude [Julianne Moore]. As The Stranger [Sam Elliott] says, ‘There’s a little Lebowski on the way,’ you know?”
That’s certainly a very obvious route to go down, but trying to chase the qualities of what made something so special years ago is a tough job, and personally, I’d rather see the Coens go off and make something new, than revisit something they’ve done already.
But in this era of sequels and nostalgia, I guess anything is possible. Thoughts? Let us know in the comments section.
