Ryan Gosling has his first official co-star in Shawn Levy‘s upcoming “Star Wars: Starfighter.”
THR reports (via The InSneider) that Mia Goth join Gosling on the cast sheet for Levy’s upcoming pic. Set five years after the events of 2019’s “The Rise Of Skywalker,” “Starfighter” is a standalone story featuring all-new “Star Wars” characters. Plot details remain scarce, but Gosling stars as a spaceship pilot who must protect his young nephew from pursuers after them both; Goth ostensibly is one of these villains. Also of note: Goth’s role is the same one Mikey Madison was in talks for before she walked away from the project.
Lucasfilm had no comment to The InSneider about the casting, and that comes as no surprise, given the studio’s struggle to get any “Star Wars” film besides Jon Favreau‘s “The Mandalorian & Grogu” into production since “The Rise Of Skywalker.” But Levy’s “Starfighter” looks like it’s moving forward fast. The film’s current theatrical release date is May 28, 2027.
As for Goth, she adds “Starfighter” to what’s been a busy past few years for the actress. Her biggest claim to fame in recent year’s is Ti West‘s horror trilogy of “X,” “Pearl,” and “MaXXXine,” which culminated last summer. Up next for the actress? Guillermo del Toro‘s “Frankenstein” adaptation over at Netflix, and Christopher Nolan‘s “The Odyssey” next summer.
Stay tuned for more details and casting news on “Star Wars: Starfighter” over the course of the summer.
