Unless you’ve got big explosions, a name brand attached, or both, getting a sci-fi movie made in Hollywood isn’t always easy. And “Passengers” knocked around the industry for years, failing to make into production until Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence decided to sign on. Indeed, if those two actors walked into any executive’s office and said they wanted to make a movie together, the offer would be on the table before they had a chance to sit down. And certainly, the sci-fi romance has become one of the most anticipated pictures of the fall.

Penned by Jon Spaihts (“Prometheus,” “Doctor Strange”), directed by Morten Tyldum (“The Imitation Game“), and featuring Michael Sheen, Laurence Fishburne, and Andy Garcia in support, the film takes place on a space ship, in the midst of a 120 year journey, that finds two of its most attractive and compatible passengers awakened, and of course, they fall for each other. But soon the truth of what’s really going on begins to surface.
Compelling stuff, and the new TV spot and images are offer a new peek at the film coming on December 21st.
