Keanu Reeves Eyes Rick Famuyiwa's Action Pic 'Past Midnight'

Dope” director Rick Famuyiwa is working hard at staying busy. With the first season of Showtime’s “The Chi” behind him, the filmmaker is now starting to pile up potential projects for his next feature. This week he signed up to write and direct the adaptation of Charles Burns’ acclaimed comic “Black Hole.” Now, he’s inking another deal at Netflix for a potentially blockbuster sounding movie.

Deadline reports that the streaming service has signed up the rights to T.J. Fixman‘s (“Ratchet & Clank“) buzzy script “Past Midnight,” and have landed Famuyiwa to direct it. Anthony and Joe Russo of Marvel fame (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Avengers: Infinity War“) are producing the movie, which is said to be a vigilante superhero story. And if you need a vigilante, who are you gonna call? That’s right, John Wick himself — Keanu Reeves. Everyone involved is hoping that Reeves will star, but nothing is guaranteed just yet, particularly as the actor is gearing up to shoot the best movie of 2019: “John Wick: Chapter 3.”

Even without Reeves, we’re intrigued and will wait to see who Netflix and everyone else manage to nab in the lead role, for the streaming service’s next power move.
