There is no doubt that in the next installment of the “Mission: Impossible” franchise, Tom Cruise will once again do something both incredibly dangerous and impressive for one of the film’s many action setpieces. However, as writer/director Christopher McQuarrie teased last month, Ethan Hunt’s journey is going to be big on drama too. “…we’re at this kind of emotional crossroads with the franchise saying well how dramatic can you take Mission? Michelle Monaghan is returning to the franchise for “Mission: Impossible 6.” The actress starred in “Mission: Impossible III” and had a brief cameo in “Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol,” playing Ethan’s wife Julia, who was thought to be murdered, but later revealed to be alive and well. How she’ll factor in this film, and whether or not her role will be large or small, is, like everyone else, being kept guarded.
Rebecca Ferguson, Henry Cavill, Vanessa Kirby, Alec Baldwin and Angela Bassett round out the cast of the new film which opens on July 27, 2018.
