Cult favorites such as “Interview with a Vampire” and “We Are Lady Parts” both make their return. Meanwhile, “Bridgerton” fans will be in luck with the latest series, though, in recent Netflix fashion, they’ll have to patiently await the second batch of episodes. From new political dramas to the latest “Star Wars” series, here’s everything to check out in May.
“Hacks”
The comedy series starring Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder returns for its third season after a two-year break since the season two finale. Following Deborah firing Ava to allow the latter a chance to build her own career, the series takes place a year after their parting. Deborah is riding on the success of her standup special while Ava pursues new opportunities in Los Angeles.
Release Date: Season 3 premieres May 2 on HBO and MAX.
“A Man in Full”
Created by David E. Kelley (“Big Little Lies”), “A Man in Full” stars Jeff Daniels and Diane Lane. Directed by Regina King and Thomas Schlamme, the adaptation follows Daniels as a real estate mogul, Charlie Croker, who must defend his empire from those seeking to capitalize on his sudden bankruptcy and fall from grace. William Jackson Harper, Aml Ameen, Lucy Liu, and more round out the ensemble.
Release Date: The series premieres May 2 on Netflix.
“Star Wars Tales of the Empire”
Each month seems poised with new “Star Wars” content, from the ongoing “The Bad Batch” to next month’s “The Acolyte.” May has the anthology series “Star Wars Tales of the Empire,” created by Dave Filoni. The series consists of six shorts that explore different characters who appear throughout the franchise.
Release Date: The series premieres May 4 on Disney+.
