Outer Range
The Josh Brolin-led science-fiction series “Outer Range” returns for its second season. Lewis Pullman and Imogen Poots also star with Charles Murray taking over as showrunner. The mystery deepens as the Abbott family struggles to keep their family together in the aftermath of their granddaughter’s disappearance. The stakes are raised as the family must face multiple new threats. 
Release Date: Season 2 premieres May 16 on Prime Video.

The Big Cigar
André Holland stars as Huey P. Newton in the upcoming series “The Big Cigar” developed by Jim Hecht. Based on the 2012 Playboy article of the same name, the series follows the manhunt for Newton, the founder of the Black Panther Party. Tiffany Boone, Alessandro Nivola, Marc Menchaca, and P.J. Byrne also star. 
Release Date: The series premieres May 17 on Apple TV+.

Eric
The director of “Suffragette” and creator of series such as “The Hour”, Abi Morgan, returns with her latest series, “Eric.” Benedict Cumberbatch stars as a puppeteer who, following his son’s disappearance, begins to think that if he can get his puppet on television then his son will come home. Ivan Morris Howe, Gaby Hoffmann, McKinley Belcher III, Roberta Colindrez, Jeff Hephner, and more star. 
Release Date: The series premieres May 30 on Netflix.

Honorable Mentions: Elsewhere, Will Forte fans can check out the true-crime comedy “Bodkin” on May 9 on Netflix. The fourth and final season of “Evil” premieres May 23 on Paramount+. The critical darling “We Are Lady Parts” returns on May 30 on Peacock. Lastly, comedian John Mulaney is playing with form and format again with “John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s In LA,” airing live on May 3 at 7 p.m. PT.
