For those of you who don’t remember, “Harold” tells the story of two farmers who were awful to their scarecrow, Harold, until he starts grunting. They ignore him, until one day, when Harold climbs up onto the roof and starts trotting around. Finallythe farmers decide what is happening is a little too weird and decide to get out of there. However, one farmer returns for his milking stools and winds up as a flayed, bloody skin stretched out on the roof to dry. That lovely scarecrow Harold is now the subject of the poster.

You can see the poster below. If the image is telling of anything, it’s that not only will the film be staying true to Gammell’s illustrations, but Del Toro and director André Øvredal‘s (“Trollhunters“) love of monsters is sure going to come out in the movie.

The screenplay is by Daniel and Kevin Hageman, and the horror thriller stars  Zoe Colletti, Austin Abrams, Gabriel Rush, Michael Garza, Austin Zajur, Dean Norris, Gil Bellows, Lorraine Toussaint, and Natalie Ganzhorn.

“Scary Stories to Tell In The Dark” is set to be released on August 9, 2019. Watch the teasers, or “mini-trailers” as del Toro calls them, below.
