Got a Tip?

Marvel TV To Launch Live-Action ‘Ghost Rider’ & ‘Helstrom’ Hulu Series In 2020

Just because Marvel Studios is working on some high-profile limited TV series for Disney+, it doesn’t mean that Marvel TV (corporate sibling to Feige’s studio) is just going to stop working on new projects. And the proof of that comes from The Wrap, who says that Marvel TV is now developing two new live-action series for Hulu based on the characters Hellstrom and Ghost Rider.

The report says that “Ghost Rider” will focus on Robbie Reyes, the character that was recently seen in a storyline on ABC’sAgents of SHIELD,” who is imbued with the Spirit of Vengeance and protects people by turning into a flaming skull guy with a cool ride. Sure, it’s more involved than that, but that’s the basic idea. However, Hulu’s “Ghost Rider” series will not be the same character from ‘SHIELD.’ In fact, it will be Robbie Reyes, but with a new story.

And to make matters even more confusing, Variety is reporting that Hulu is bringing on actor Gabriel Luna to portray Reyes in the series. Luna is the actor that played the same character in “Agents of SHIELD.” So, Marvel TV is probably hoping he looks familiar, but they also want to toy around with the story just a little bit. The good news is you don’t have to watch years of ‘SHIELD’ episodes in preparation.

As for the other Marvel TV series, “Helstrom,” is a bit different than what you’ve seen from the company up until now. The series is based on the comic characters Daimon Helstrom and his sister Ana Helstrom. The siblings are the son and daughter of a mysterious serial killer. Now, the description doesn’t say this, but the comics clearly stated that Daimon Hellstrom (spelled slightly differently in the comic books) was the “Son of Satan.” So, perhaps that’s a bit of a spoiler. The show will follow the duo as they track down the worst of the worst in the Marvel universe. Sounds like Satanic “Supernatural?”

No word on exact launch dates for these streaming series, but the reports say that fans can expect them in 2020.
