Fresh off its world premiere at Sundance last month, A.V. Rockwell‘s feature directorial debut, “A Thousand And One” hits theaters everywhere in March. And thanks to it winning Sundance’s Grand Jury prize, Rockwell’s debut is one of the must-see movies of early spring (read The Playlist’s review of the film here).

“A Thousand And One” stars Teyana Taylor as Inez, a single mom fresh out of prison who kidnaps her young son out of the foster system in hopes of making a live together. Here’s the film’s official synopsis:
A THOUSAND AND ONE follows unapologetic and free-spirited Inez, who kidnaps her six-year-old son Terry from the foster care system. Holding onto their secret and each other, mother and son set out to reclaim their sense of home, identity, and stability, in a rapidly changing New York City.
Along with Taylor, “A Thousand And One” also stars Will Catlett, Josiah Cross, Aven Courtney, and Aaron Kingsley Adetola. Rockwell pens the film’s script on top of directing duties.
Eddie Vaisman, Julia Lebedev, Lena Waithe, Rishi Rajani, and Brad Weston co-produce “A Thousand And One.” Oren Moverman and Jamin O’Brien serve as the film’s co-executive producers.
