Got a Tip?

Aerosmith Gets Back In The Summer Soundtrack Game, Will Drop A New/Old Song For ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’

nullFor a while there in the early '90s, you couldn't escape hearing Aerosmith blasting out of every radio station from every car stereo across the nation. "Livin' On The Edge," "Crying," "Amazing" and "Crazy" marked a tremendous run for the band that was capped off by what is pretty much their last massive hit, "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" for Michael Bay's "Armageddon" (and it should be noted the director also helmed the band's video for "Falling In Love (Is Hard On The Knees)"). That was nearly fifteen years ago. And as the band fades in relevance (seriously, look at that picture) — assisted by Steven Tyler's recent stint on "American Idol" — they are hoping they can take one last stab at summer soundtrack glory.

The upcoming "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" will feature a new/old tune from Aerosmith entitled "Legendary Child." The track is actually something that didn't make the cut for Get A Grip, but has now been polished off and re-recorded. It's certainly a kind of time warp, throwback decision, but then again, of all the summer movies this year, none look more 1990s than "G.I. Joe: Retaliation."

Of course, this isn't Aerosmith's first stab at the soundtrack apple, having appeared/contributed over the years on things as varied as "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," "Spider-Man" and "Charlie's Angels." And guitarist Joe Perry promises that it “definitely has a feel like some of the early stuff." Whether that's a good or bad thing will be up to the listener, we suppose. "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" opens on June 29th. [Gibson]
