After Kristen Stewart dropped out of Spanish filmmaker Albert Serra‘s (“Afternoons of Solitude”) big English-language debut, “Out of This World,” the international political drama has found quite the replacement as Riley Keough has now stepped in and taken on the role previously meant for Stewart.
This update is from Variety, as their reporting reveals the pic heading to the Cannes Film Market is going to involve American and Russian delegations looking to solve an economic dispute between the two countries, with the war in Ukraine in the backdrop. She’ll join existing cast members, who include veteran actor F. Murray Abraham (“The Grand Budapest Hotel”) and Liza Yankovskaia (“Frau”).
A synopsis for “Out of This World” mentioned by the outlet:
“‘Out of This World’ follows an American delegation traveling to Russia in the midst of the Ukrainian war to try to find a solution to an economic dispute. The project explores the decades-long rivalry between Russia and the U.S.”
Serra’s eighth film is being overseen internationally by Alice Lesort at Losange Films (a sister label to CG Cinema) with a producing team that consists of Les Films du Losange (releasing it in France), Idéale Audience Group, Andergraun Films in association with Felix Culpa, and co-production with Rosa Filmes and Forma Pro.
Keough, the granddaughter of the legendary Elvis Presley, made her way into the world of acting giving us some impressive performances in her series “Daisy Jones & The Six,” and stood out in the wildly comedic Steven Soderbergh heist film “Logan Lucky” co-starring with Channing Tatum, Adam Driver, and Daniel Craig.
While the main language spoken in “Out of This World” will be English, there will also be scenes using Russian, as you’d expect given the setting.
