Alex Ross Perry Goes 16mm To Direct New Video For Sleigh Bells’ “I Can Only Stare”

Alex Ross Perry is mostly known for his handmade, lo-fi indie films such as “The Color Wheel,” “Listen Up Philip,” and “Queen Of Earth,” but he’s also been eager to go outside of that box. Disney gave the filmmaker a ring to write their brewing “Winnie The Pooh” movie, and now Perry is taking into the world of music videos, helming the promo for Sleigh Bells‘ “I Can Only Stare.”

Shot on 16mm film (Perry is very much devoted to the analog format), and co-directed by the band’s Derek E. Miller, the video puts together some striking imagery, with Alexis Krauss playing three different women in what look to be tales of loneliness and heartbreak. If you dig the Sleigh Bells vibe, you’ll likely immediately fall for this one. The band’s new album “Jessica Rabbit” drops on November 11th.
