Michael B. Jordan is hotter than a pistol after Ryan Coogler‘s “Sinners, and is returning to behind the camera on a remake of “The Thomas Crown Affair,” which he’ll both direct and star as a newly announced female lead is joining the project at Amazon MGM Studios.
After the recent exit of Canadian actress Taylor Russell (“Bones & All”) over the weekend, Variety is reporting that “Andor” and “Hit Man” actress Adria Arjona has come in to replace her as the female lead, who will be the romantic interest of Jordan’s character, Thomas Crown, a talented and wealthy art thief that is just as interested in art of seduction as well.
Assembled for the supporting cast is a group of high-profile actors such as Kenneth Branagh (“Tenet”), Lily Gladstone (“Killers of the Flower Moon”), Danai Gurira (“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” “The Walking Dead”), Pilou Asbæk (“Game of Thrones,” “Ghost In The Shell”), and Aiysha Hart (“Mogul Mowgli,” “Salvable”).
Veteran screenwriter Drew Pearce is behind the remake’s latest incarnation of script after working on action projects such as “The Fall Guy,” “Iron Man 3,” “Hobbs & Shaw,” and most recently, teamed up with Taika Waititi for his remake of “Judge Dredd.”
Thomas Crown has been previously played by Steve McQueen and Pierce Brosnan, and there are expectations that the action should be just as compelling as the romance between the two leads.
Filming on “The Thomas Crown Affair” is said to be currently underway in London with the studio aiming to release the romantic crime flick in theaters on March 5, 2027.
