It wasn’t too long ago that DC Studios‘ James Gunn revealed they were quietly writing a new “Wonder Woman” movie, and we now know who is behind that script, the screenwriter of “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” and their gestating “Teen Titans” movie.
The news comes to us from Variety, which revealed that writer Ana Nogueira has been enlisted by DC Studios and Warner Bros. to pen a new DCU incarnation of a “Wonder Woman” movie. Next comes casting and finding a director to helm it, but Gunn has been transparent that without a great script, projects won’t be moving forward as they’re not interested in being rushed into production.

We don’t know exactly who DC/WB is going to be considering for the part of the DCU’s version of Diana Prince, but Gunn seemed keen on the idea of the fan-casting of “Andor” actress Adria Arjona, whom he worked with on “The Belko Experiment.”
“She’d be a great Wonder Woman, by the way…She was in a movie that I made seven years ago. We’ve been friends and have known each other since that time,” Gunn said of potentially having Arjona play the new Wonder Woman.
That said, we wouldn’t be entirely shocked if other contenders ended up including May Calamawy (“Moon Knight,” “The Mummy”), Monica Barbaro (“Top Gun: Maverick,” “A Complete Unknown”), and Ana de Armas (“Ballerina,” “No Time To Die”).
Previously, actress Gal Gadot and director Patty Jenkins worked together on two feature films before the newly formed DC Studios headed up by Gunn and Peter Safran decided to reset the superhero cinematic universe that ended up ending development of a third movie that had been in development before taking on the new DCU, leading to plans to recasting/reboot all the major DC heroes (a new Batman actor is also expected to be revealed in the near future).
There had been indications from Gunn while speaking on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast about potentially giving Henry Cavill a future DC part similar to Jason Momoa joining the DCU as Lobo in “Supergirl.” We shouldn’t be shocked if Gadot and Ben Affleck are given similar opportunities to play in the sandbox again, playing new parts.
When it comes to casting and director announcements, we’ll just have to be patient, as it sounds like early days on “Wonder Woman.”
