Got a Tip?

Andy Muschietti Says ‘The Brave & The Bold’ Batman Film Is “Postponed”

When James Gunn announced the ambitious first slate of films that DC Studios was working on, fans were excited about what the executive had planned for Batman. According to that slate, instead of doing another Batman origin story, Gunn announced plans to release “The Brave and the Bold,” a new film featuring Batman and his son Damian Wayne, aka Robin. But since that initial reveal, there hasn’t been much said about the project. And the filmmaker involved isn’t ready to begin filming anytime soon.

In a new interview with California Secreta, filmmaker Andy Muschietti talked about the current status of the upcoming film, “The Brave and the Bold.” Unfortunately, all he could reveal about the project is that it has been delayed. And not only that, he’s probably going to go off to make another film before his Batman story.

“[‘The Brave and The Bold’] is a project that has been postponed a bit,” said the filmmaker. “So there’s going to be one before it.

As mentioned, “The Brave and the Bold” is a Batman film that follows the character as he works with his young son, Damian Wayne. In the comics, Damian would eventually go on to become Robin. It’s unclear exactly what the story of the film would be, as Gunn has kept things secret until a film gets a greenlight. And judging by what Muschietti is saying, a greenlight is still pretty far off for the Batman-led film.

At this point, you have to assume “The Brave and the Bold” isn’t going to be released anytime before 2028. Why so long? Well, if Muschietti is going to make a new film, that would probably take at least a year to happen, which pushes the Batman project until 2026 at the earliest. And if production starts then, you’re looking at a release date of 2027. However, with the recent news that “The Batman Part II” is being released in 2027, it’s highly unlikely DC Studios would want competing ‘Batman’ projects that close together. Thus, 2028, at the earliest.

We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
