'Another Round' Trailer: Thomas Vinterberg's Cannes 2020 Drama Starring Mads Mikkelsen Gets Boozy

The premise of Thomas Vinterberg’s newest film, “Another Round,” which was recently announced as one of the 56 films chosen to be an Official Selection of this year’s Cannes Film Festival, might sound like fodder for a silly “Hangover“-esque comedy. But as you watch the new trailer, that is clearly not the case.

As seen in the trailer, “Another Round” tells the story of a group of friends that decide to hold an experiment to see if maintaining a certain level of alcohol intoxication can benefit their daily lives. Will they be more affable? Will they have more confidence and succeed at work? And though the experiment seems to be going well, excess begins to creep in and the group starts to fall apart due to the dependence on the substance.

As mentioned, the film was announced yesterday as part of this year’s Official Selections of the Cannes Film Festival, though the film won’t actually screen or compete for any awards at the now-canceled fest. Vinterberg is no stranger to Cannes, having his 2012 film, “The Hunt,” compete at the event. He’s also been a regular at various other festivals for his films over the years.

Mads Mikkelsen stars in the film, alongside Thomas Bo Larsen, Lars Ranthe, and Magnus Millang. “Another Round” is directed by Vinterberg, based on a script he co-wrote with Tobias Lindholm.

As of now, there’s no release date set for “Another Round.”
