Got a Tip?

Antoine Fuqua To Direct Pseudo-Superhero Thriller ‘Infinite’

Antoine Fuqua is probably best known for his more realistic action films. Well, about as realistic as Denzel Washington killing everyone in his path as an unstoppable badass is. But for his next film, the director is moving into the realm of sci-fi action.

THR is reporting that Fuqua has signed on to direct the upcoming film “Infinite.” “Infinite” follows a group of immortal beings that have been reincarnated for centuries, appropriately called the Infinite. This group of special men and women must join forces to defeat some villain hellbent on destroying the world. And to aid them in this mission, the Infinite will need the help of a schizophrenic man who will learn that all his vivid dreams are actually memories.

Fuqua, as mentioned above, is probably best known for his films with Denzel Washington, which include “Training Day” and the two ‘Equalizer’ films. Fuqua has expressed interest in directing a superhero film, and with “Infinite,” it appears the director has found a pseudo-superhero film to take on. Fans of Fuqua will no doubt wonder how “Infinite” might affect the long-in-development “Scarface” remake. That film appears to still be on the backburner for now, so that frees up Fuqua to tackle this new film.

“Infinite” is written by Ian Schorr and produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura. The latter of which is probably best known for being one of the masterminds behind the “Transformers” franchise. That should tell you all you need to know about the scale of “Infinite.” Clearly, Paramount is hoping that this film could launch a new franchise.

There’s no release date planned for now for “Infinite.”
