The show, which was created and executive-produced by Del Toro, is set in a suburb called Arcadia, where Jim and his two best friends find that brewing beneath their town is a war between good and bad trolls. The series is a departure for Del Toro, who normally focuses on big-budget, spectacle movies aimed at adults. Now, he’s looking to bring his creativity and love of monsters to a much younger audience.
Perlman and Grammar join a cast, which features Anton Yelchin voicing the main character, Jim. Kelsey Grammar will play a nice troll who helps Jim, while Perlman will voice the evil Bular. Fans of Del Toro will no doubt be excited to see that he is teaming once again with Ron Perlman. The pair collaborated on the “Hellboy” films, which are seen by many as high points in both their careers. And while it’s not “Hellboy 3,” it should suffice for the faithful.
“Trollhunters” will be released on the streaming service in December.
