It’s been a few years since we’ve seen Armie Hammer in a feature film. This is because he was accused of sexual misconduct and seemingly was exiled from Hollywood. (He was also accused of being a cannibal, which was part of a series of sexually explicit text messages that leaked.) But now, could we be on the verge of a comeback for Hammer? He seems to be putting a lot of hope into the work of Uwe Boll to make it happen.

According to Variety, Armie Hammer is set to star in the upcoming Uwe Boll thriller, “The Dark Knight.” Now, you immediately will probably say, “But wait, there’s already a film called ‘The Dark Knight!’” Yes, you’re right. But according to a producer for the Boll film, “Our movie is very different from Chris Nolan’s movie, so there is no danger of confusion.”
How different are they? Well, let’s play a game. First, I’ll give you the synopsis for one of the films, and you tell me which one it is. Okay?

“The Dark Knight” tells the story of a vigilante who decides to take justice in his own hands as he hunts down criminals. However, as he goes on his spree of taking down criminals, he begins to draw the attention of the public, and the ire of the local police chief.
Which one is it? Well, you wouldn’t be wrong to guess it’s Christopher Nolan’s Batman film, but it’s really the Uwe Boll film. Maybe the big difference is that Armie Hammer won’t be wearing a mask? We’ll have to wait and see.
To be honest, we shouldn’t be all that shocked that Uwe Boll would call his film “The Dark Knight” and cast Armie Hammer in the lead. For a while, Hammer was a fan-favorite to play Batman in a feature film. He just has that look. Boll loves to make headlines, and this definitely does.
For those who don’t know, Boll is a director who has most recently helmed projects such as “Run” and “First Shift.” However, he made a name for himself with films like “BloodRayne,” “Postal,” and “In the Name of the King.” He’s basically a filmmaker who loves to make movies that could best be described as schlock.
Obviously, one Uwe Boll film isn’t enough for a comeback to be complete. A reputable director is going to have to take a chance on Hammer for it to be complete. Perhaps Mel Gibson will give him a shot? Hollywood is still allowing him to make films.
No release date has been set for “The Dark Knight,” but you’ll probably find it on some streaming service in the next year or so.
