Does Leonardo DiCaprio & Danny Boyle's 'The Beach' Hold Up? [Adjust Your Tracking Podcast]

We get older; the movie stays the same… On this episode of Adjust Your Tracking, Joe and I bring back a couple of golden oldies from the show’s past. We haven’t been on the mic since our Hereditary” episode last month as we’ve had busy schedules outside of podcasting. And so, I’ve put together some previous choices from our podcast segment, HOLD UP, in which we look back at film’s from our past, typically ones we admire, and see if they, in fact, hold up.

First off we look back at Danny Boyle‘s 2000 film starring a Leonardo DiCaprio, “The Beach,” a film Joe and I both enjoyed when it came out despite its mostly negative reception, but upon revisiting this adaptation of Alex Garland‘s first novel back in 2015 (when we recorded this chat originally) we came away with a much different take. The back half of the episode we look at Emilio Estevez‘ 1986 directorial debut “Wisdom,” an intensely flawed work that nonetheless is fun to pick apart and discuss, especially because of its ill-conceived twist ending that lands like a sad trombone at the end.

On occasion, we’ll bring back these older conversations. We hope you like listening, and even better, find these films and give them a spin if you never have. AYT is sure to be back soon enough with a proper episode, as we dig into the new release “Sorry to Bother You” and perhaps more. Thanks for listening!
