Got a Tip?

Best Supporting Actress Oscars 2024 Predictions And Contenders

If the Best Supporting Actor race is mostly settled, the 2024 Best Supporting Actress campaign is decidedly not. There are two very likely nominees, Emily Blunt who is searching for her first nomination ever for “Oppenheimer” and Danielle Brooks, who is bringing her Tony Award-nominated turn in the musical version of “The Color Purple” to the big screen. The final three slots “seem” so wide open we could be in for an entertaining campaign if the SAG strike ends with enough time before voting begins (fingers crossed).

Other potential nominees include Best Actress winner and five-time nominee Julianne Moore (“May December”), Tony Award nominee Da’Vine Joy Randolph (“The Holdovers”), two-time Oscar winner Jodie Foster (“Nyad”), Oscar winner and four-time nominee Viola Davis (“Air”), two-time Emmy winner Claire Foy (“All of Us Strangers”), European Film Awards winner and potential double nominee Sandra Hüller (“The Zone of Interest”), and a 2009 nominee in this category, Taraji P. Henson (“The Color Purple”).

Also worthy of attention are a very deserving Anne Hathaway (“Eileen”), America Ferrara (“Barbie”), Rosamund Pike (“Saltburn”), Florence Pugh (“Oppenheimer”), and, reportedly, Penelope Cruz (“Ferrari”).

While not as prolific as Best Supporting Actor, this category has seen multiple nominees in the same category twice since 2019 (“The Favourite” and “Everything Everywhere All At Once”). [Updated Nov. 17]
