‘Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F’ Clip: Eddie Murphy & Joseph Gordon-Levitt Attempt To Steal A Helicopter In Netflix Comedy

It’s really difficult to imagine a world where “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” is a good film. Many of the legacy sequels that have been released in recent years are subpar, to put it nicely. Not only that, but ‘Axel F’ is coming to Netflix, which doesn’t have the best track record with original films. Then you have the fact that Eddie Murphy films are very much hit or miss. All that to say, things don’t look good for the ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ sequel.

However, when you look at the first clip from ‘Axel F,’ it does seem as if the makings of a good “Beverly Hills Cop” film are there. This is an R-rated film (thank god) and in the clip, there must be a half-dozen f-bombs. So, at least we know Netflix isn’t trying to neuter the franchise. And the chemistry between Murphy and Joseph Gordon-Levitt looks fun and engaging. So, there’s some optimism, right? 

The cast includes Eddie Murphy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Taylour Paige, Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Paul Reiser, Bronson Pinchot, and Kevin Bacon. ‘Axel F’ is directed by Mark Molloy. This film marks the feature directorial debut for the filmmaker.

Detective Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) is back on the beat in Beverly Hills. After his daughter’s life is threatened, she (Taylour Paige) and Foley team up with a new partner (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and old pals Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton) to turn up the heat and uncover a conspiracy.
