Folks are feverishly trying to piece together what The Russos and Marvel Studios will be doing with “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars,” leading to a whole bunch of ideas of who will or won’t be showing up in the event films as fans try to chip away that mystery box concerning the cast lineup (leaked “concept art” from an official artist from the Marvel Development team has also complicated things). However, those hoping for the Scarlet Witch‘s grand return might have to look elsewhere.
Longtime MCU actress Elizabeth Olsen (“WandaVision”) is now giving the impression that she won’t be able to shoot those two massive movies because of filming commitments for the upcoming FX series “Seven Sisters.”
“No, I’m back [in the States]. I just finished [‘Panic Carefully’]. I’m moving on to filming a pilot for FX [called ‘Seven Sisters’],” the actress told THR in a recent interview when asked about her involvement in the next two “Avengers” films at Marvel. Olsen is known for candid opinions on the MCU and doesn’t come off like someone who would try to deceive an interviewer.
We’ll have to wait to see if there is an eventual backtrack, as Olsen’s “Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness” co-star Benedict Cumberbatch told the press he wasn’t going to be involved either, only to be reminded (by Marvel or his agency?) that he will be and confirmed he would be in the movies after all.
Then again, Scarlet Witch “died” after the events of “Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness” where she slaughtered the mega-powered heroes of Earth-383, The Illuminati (John Krasinski‘s variant of Dr. Reed Richards was part of Wanda’s bodycount), and could come back to haunt the heroes of Earth-616 (we’re still waiting for official confirmation from Marvel what universe RDJ’s Doom is coming from in the Multiverse romps).
Despite her death in the MCU, there is a good chance that we could end up seeing Olsen’s Scarlet Witch appearing in the new Disney+ series “Vision Quest,” which focuses on Paul Bettany‘s robotic Avengers member The Vision, and his former love Wanda getting a flashback scene isn’t too hard to imagine.
