So, how do you promote a movie called “Drive Angry 3D”? Show some sleek-looking cars driving real fast? Maybe your lead character looking totally pissed off? Well, if you’re Summit you do none of the above and hope that Amber Heard’s legs (as she sits in a parked car) do all the marketing for you.
We’ll be honest, we haven’t really been following this movie too closely and frankly, it basically sounds like a supernatural (read: dumber) version of the Dwayne Johnson movie “Faster” that comes out in the fall. We read the official synopsis, and then read it again, and were kind of amazed at just how ludicrous it sounds. See for yourself:
DRIVE ANGRY stars Nicolas Cage as Milton, a hardened felon who has broken out of hell for one last chance at redemption. Intent on stopping a vicious cult who murdered his daughter, he has three days to stop them before they sacrifice her baby beneath a full moon.
He’s joined by Piper (Amber Heard) – a young, sexy waitress who liberates her ex-boyfriend’s cherry-red muscle car in order to help Milton. Now, the two of them are hot on the trail of the deadly leader of the cult, Jonah King (Billy Burke), who believes it is his destiny to use the baby to unleash hell on earth.
But the bloodthirsty cult is the least of Milton’s problems. The police are after him too. And worse, an enigmatic killer known only as “The Accountant” – who has been sent by the Devil to retrieve Milton and deliver him back to hell. With wicked cunning and hypnotic savagery, the Accountant will relentlessly pursue Milton at high speed across the country until his mission is accomplished.
So wait, the killer sent by the Devil is called (cue ominous music) The Accountant. Geez, as if the dudes in the IRS don’t have a bad enough rep as it is. “Drive Angry 3D” opens on February 11, 2011. More pics after the jump, and before we start getting comments about it, no, Nicolas Cage is not angry in the pic below; he looks perturbed, like someone snagged his grilled cheese sandwich from the craft services table.
