According to Deadline, Eddie Murphy is set to star in “Blue Falcon,” a project that originated from “London Has Fallen” writer Chad St. John. The film, which has been picked up by Sony Pictures, tells the story of Murphy as a retired superspy who goes on a trip to the destination wedding of his estranged son. But wouldn’t you know it, while there, he is in the crosshairs of his archenemy. It sounds a bit silly, which might be exactly what Murphy needs.
As mentioned, Murphy’s most recent film is the Netflix feature, “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.” Before that, he worked on projects such as “Candy Cane Lane,” “You People,” and “Coming 2 America.” He seems to still be trying to straddle the worlds of family friendly comedy and raunch. He’ll do something like “Candy Cane Lane” and then follow it up with the R-rated ‘Axel F.’
“Blue Falcon” is in need of a director, as the project is still in the early stages of development. But it appears the script is ready to go. It’s still far too early to know when we might see the film arrive in theaters or on a streamer. Judging by his most recent output, it wouldn’t be all that shocking to see the film eventually land at a streaming service.
