Netflix looks to tackle the time-honored classic of the period romance in the upcoming series, “Bridgerton.”
As seen in the trailer for the new series, “Bridgerton” follows the eldest daughter of the title family as she enters the highly competitive world of Regency London’s marriage market. When it becomes clear that she might have trouble finding a suitable partner, she teams up with the scandalous Duke of Hastings to see if they can’t just benefit each other.
The cast includes Phoebe Dynevor, Regé-Jean Page, Jonathan Bailey, Nicola Coughlan, Claudia Jessie, Ruby Barker, Adjoa Andoh, Golda Rosheuvel, Luke Thompson, Luke Newton, Ruby Stokes, Will Tilston, Florence Hunt, Ruth Gemmell, Bessie Carter, Harriet Cains, Polly Walker, Ben Miller, Kathryn Drysdale, Sabrina Bartlett, Martins Imhangbe, and Lorraine Ashbourne.
“Bridgerton” is the first series to come from Netflix’s deal with superstar TV producer, Shonda Rhimes. Through her Shondaland production company, Rhimes has created and produced a number of high-profile series including “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal,” and “How to Get Away with Murder.”
“Bridgerton” debuts on Netflix on December 25. You can watch the trailer below.
