After scoring big hits with “Anora” and “Longlegs” in 2024, NEON wants their box office success to continue this calendar year, too. So far so good for the distributor on the rise: “The Monkey” was another hit for NEON last month, with a bigger turn-in now than Sean Baker‘s Oscar Best Picture winner.
Expect “The Life Of Chuck” to extend NEON’s streak of box office supremacy this summer, too. The surprise winner of TIFF‘s People’s Choice Award last September, Mike Flanagan‘s latest has all the makings of an early summer crowd-pleaser. It’s a Stephen King adaptation, stars Tom Hiddleston, and features more dance numbers than anyone realizes.

A life-affirming, genre-bending story based on Stephen King’s novella about three chapters in the life of an ordinary man named Charles Krantz.
Along with Hiddleston, “The Life Of Chuck” also stars Jacob Tremblay, Benjamin Pajak, Mark Hamill, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Karen Gillan, and Mia Sara. Nick Offerman also stars as the film’s narrator.
Flanagan directs “The Life Of Chuck,” and adapts King’s novella for the big screen. Producers on the film include Flanagan and his longtime collaborator Trevor Macy via Intrepid Pictures.
As noted earlier, “The Life Of Chuck” had its world premiere at TIFF last year, where it won the People’s Choice Award. Read The Playlist’s B-graded review of the film here. NEON picked the film up as distributor at the tail-end after TIFF wrapped last September.
