Carla Gugino will reunite with her “Watchmen” director Zack Snyder in his upcoming fantasy-actioner “Sucker Punch.”
The actress joins Emily Browning, Vanessa Hudgens, Jamie Chung, Jena Malone, and Abbie Cornish in the ’50s-set film which centers on a girl (Browning) who enters an alternate reality with her friends and begins planning an escape from a mental institution where she was put by her evil stepfather who intends to have her lobotomized in five days. Remember, on their sure-to-be green-screen heavy fantastical misadventures, the girls will fight dragons and orc-like creatures so don’t expect anything serious, or good for that matter, aside from very attractive actresses.
Gugino is slated to portray Mrs. Schultz, an adult figure in the institution (a crazy woman?) and is only the second actor to be cast that won’t be portraying the gang of institutionalized girls – the first being Scott Glenn who plays an unnamed wise-man.
Actors are currently in fight training for the film with a fall shoot in Vancouver planned. [THR]
