Even though it’s clear that Apple has yet to fully get into the swing of things with its streaming service, as the initial wave of original content failed to impress, the tech company does have some interesting projects up its sleeve. And one of those projects that is sure to draw some attention is “Central Park,” the first adult-skewed animated series for Apple TV+ from the creator of “Bob’s Burgers.”
As seen in the trailer for “Central Park,” the series doesn’t really follow the “Bob’s Burger” model except for the art style. Whereas ‘Burgers’ is a series along the lines of “The Simpsons” or “Family Guy,” focused primarily on an eccentric family and strange adventures, “Central Park” has a much larger scale and some bigger ambition.
“Central Park,” as the title suggests, tells the story of a variety of different people that all have warring ideas on what to do with the New York City location. There’s a wealthy old lady that wants to level it and turn it into more skyscrapers, while younger folks want to preserve the park. And yes, there’s a fun family at the center, but that is canceled out by the fact that “Central Park” is actually a musical.

The series has an all-star voice cast that includes Josh Gad, Leslie Odom, Jr., Kristen Bell, Kathryn Hahn, Tituss Burgess, Daveed Diggs, and Stanley Tucci. “Central Park” comes from creator Loren Bouchard, who is the person who is responsible for “Bob’s Burgers,” as well as “Lucy, the Daughter of the Devil” and “Home Movies.”
“Central Park” is expected to premiere on Apple TV+ on May 29.
