Got a Tip?

Tom Hardy & Channing Tatum Head Toward The ‘Triple Frontier’

As it goes with every story about “Triple Frontier,” let’s just recap the history of this forever-brewing movie. Initially a film that Kathryn Bigelow was going to direct, despite big names like Tom Hanks, Johnny Depp, Sean Penn, Will Smith, Javier Bardem and Christian Bale all circling, it never got off the ground, and she moved on. But in 2015, the project fell into the hands of “A Most Violent Year” and “All Is Lost” director J.C. Chandor, and while he saw both Hanks and Smith kick the tires again, and Johnny Depp eyeball it, the film continues to stall out. But perhaps these two names will be the ones to finally get it moving.

Variety reports that Channing Tatum and Tom Hardy are in early talks to star in the movie, but caution there are a few things to untangle. Notably, both are very busy, scheduling will be a challenge, and deals are not close to being finalized. So don’t hold your breath, but damn, keep those fingers crossed because the premise for this one has always been great, with the story taking place in the notorious, titular border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil called “la triple frontera,” where the Iguazu and Paraná rivers converge, making it a haven for crime that’s difficult to monitor.

We’re sure we’re not the only ones who’d love to see Tatum and Hardy get sweaty in South America, so here’s hoping this movie finally comes together.
