Chris O'Dowd Forgot He Was In A 'Thor' Movie (Why Aren't We That Lucky?)

Looks like Chris O’Dowd just went and forgot the fact that “Thor: The Dark World” even existed, something many fans wish they could do too. For Chris though, this slip-up is a bit more egregious, as he actually got paid to be in it.

Cast your minds back to 2013, after Kenneth Branagh withdrew from director’s seat but before Taika Waititi got his hands and charm on the Asgardian. ‘The Dark World’ was the eighth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and followed the theme of sequels that could definitely have been better (looking at you, “Iron Man 2”). But was ‘The Dark World’ so forgettable that even the actors need to pause and think about it? In O’Dowd’s case, it seems so, because he couldn’t even get the title.

In an interview with MTV when asked about his stint in the MCU, O’Dowd blanked for a hot second. “God, I forgot that I was in that one until you just mentioned it,” the Irish actor laughed. “I was like, why is he talking to me about Marvel movies?”

“The Dark World” followed up from the first “Thor” movie with the god of thunder returning to Earth, as promised, to his love interest Jane (Natalie Portman). But before we got to the happy reunion, fans saw Jane trying to move on by going on a date with a man named Richard, played by O’Dowd. A minor role, but usually when an actor is cast in a Marvel movie they remember it.

When faced with the popular question, however, of whether the character Richard survived the end of “Avengers: Infinity War” (spoilers!), O’Dowd seemed pretty confident that the guy would make it. Whether he’ll live to see another day on screen though, that is highly doubtful.
