'Cold Pursuit' Won't Have Red Carpet Premiere Due To Liam Neeson Controversy

With the news of the Liam Neeson controversy from Monday circling the media, it’s no surprise that his promotions are falling through. And now, the Irish actor’s most recent action movie “Cold Pursuit” will be without a red carpet premiere because of Neeson’s unplanned, and unwanted, media storm, according to THR.

The famous and once-beloved Irishman of “Taken” fame has fallen from grace after a comment he made during a press interview with The Independent this week. When talking about his latest film and the themes of revenge, Neeson went into the story of his own quest for revenge years ago, and it isn’t pretty.

After learning that a friend of his was raped by a black person, Neeson took to the streets looking for not just a fight.

“I went up and down areas with a cosh, hoping I’d be approached by somebody – I’m ashamed to say that – and I did it for maybe a week, hoping some… ‘black bastard’ would come out of a pub and have a go at me about something, you know? So that I could… kill him,” explained the actor.

The public is reeling from the discernable racism the perspective gives. Neeson later went on in other interviews to try and explain his story a little better, but it looks like the “Cold Pursuit” team are taking precautions just in case.

The premiere for the new wintery film will go on as scheduled, but there will be no stars and no media on the red carpet beforehand. Though Neeson is trying his hardest to clean things up, there’s no guarantee this won’t affect the box office, and it certainly won’t be leaving public attention for a while.
