Got a Tip?

Christopher Nolan’s ‘Batman’ Anxieties Are Our Excitement, Beastie Boy’s Adam Yauch’s Contradictions Are Our Confusion….

“I don’t know what this thing is, exactly, but I know it’s what I wanted,” [pauses] “Be careful what you wish for!” – While worrying aloud that his Batman “Dark Knight” film is going to be too dark, grim and gritty, director Chris Nolan excites us with the prospect of a Hollywood tentpole film that might actually be as brutal as the graphic novels. “I had some idea that I was going to use those kind of hip-hop tracks, to use things like Nas and Biggie and Jay Z and things of that ilk, like Fat Joe, but a lot of that was in the cutting room, just playing around and see what worked. I got on the phone with Puff the other day and told him I wanted to clear this Biggie track, and he helped put me in touch with the right people. Hopefully, we’ll get it done within the budget of a documentary, but we’re still working on it.” – Wait, now we’re confused. After touting the fact that his basketball film “Gunnin’ For That #1 Spot,” was going to feature lots of A-list hip-hop and then claiming that no soundtrack CD would be issued, did Beastie Boy Adam Yauch drop a lot of the rap in the film because licensing was too expensive? How about someone dropping us an invite to the film already. [Oscillioscope]

“It’s a thriller.” – Pierce Brosnan is effusive in letting us know that he is starring in Roman Polanski’s “Ghost,” with Nicolas Cage. [MTV]

Richard Kelly’s “Twilight Zone” retread “The Box” will be due on September 11, 2009. Pretty perfect doomsday date considering how big of a flop this one sounds like it will be. The positive side is that gives Kelly more than a year to convince the Arcade Fire’s Win Butler to write more than just a musical cue or two for the film. [Collider]
