Ciarán Hinds and longtime Brit television actress Janet McTeer have joined Daniel Radcliffe in the ghost story “The Woman In Black.”
Based on the modern classic novel by the Susan Hill, and adapted by Jane Goldman (“Kick-Ass,” “X-Men: First Class”), the film “follows a young lawyer, Arthur Kipps (Radcliffe), who is ordered to travel to a remote corner of the UK and sort out a recently deceased client’s papers. As he works alone in an old and isolated house, Kipps begins to uncover its tragic secrets, and his unease grows when he discovers that the local village is held hostage by the ghost of a scorned woman set on vengeance.” Hinds will play the local counsel who assists Kipps, with McTeer playing Hinds’ wife.
The goes in front of cameras later this month with James Watkins (“Eden Lake”) directing. Despite earlier rumors that the film might be shot in 3D, Hammer Films have confirmed the film will not be utilizing the format. [Deadline]
