Classic Western 'A Fistful Of Dollars' Is Getting A Remake

In Hollywood nowadays, if you’re a classic film, it really is just a matter of time before the remake monster comes calling. Nothing is sacred. Not even one of the greatest Westerns of all time— “A Fistful of Dollars.”

According to Deadline, the classic film, “A Fistful of Dollars,” is getting the remake treatment. The film follows the story of a mysterious gunslinger who comes to a town filled with greed, pride, and revenge. ‘Fistful’ is often credited as the film to launch the spaghetti Western subgenre. It’s also the film that really put Clint Eastwood on the map. And yet, we’re going to get a remake.

It’s difficult to be optimistic about something like this. The original is so iconic, in so many different ways, there’s really just no way a remake could stand up to the original. And yes, there will be people who say that the remake won’t undo the impact of the original film. But honestly, there has to be any number of good Western scripts that have gone unmade. This just feels like a cynical cash-grab.

Regardless of what I think, this is seemingly going to happen. There are no stars or a director attached. The remake is being produced by Euro Gang Entertainment, alongside Enzo Sisti (who worked on the great series, “Ripley”) of FPC and Rome-based Jolly Film

Since there is no script or anything as of yet, there’s obviously no release date set for “A Fistful of Dollars.”
