Tabloid writer Baz Bamigboye (who has a legit track record) almost barely mentions it, but it’s the first we’ve heard this news. Tagged at the tail end of a much longer celeb piece, in news that’s sure to make action geeks cream their pants, Baz says that Clive Owen is joining the previously announced Jason Statham action film, “The Killer Elite.”
Based on the book “The Feathermen” by Ranulph Fiennes the story follows “a group of former British special forces members who are being hunted by assassins. Statham will play a former Navy Seal who is forced out of retirement to save his closest friend.” We’re guessing Owen is going to play the closest friend.
The film, originally scheduled to shoot last fall, is looking to shoot in Australia, presumably sometime this year. While we haven’t been fans of Owen’s choices of late — particularly his action films — a pairing with Statham sounds potentially awesome.
