Edgar Wright Releases His Top 100 Songs Of 2020 Playlist

Edgar Wright is known for many things, but perhaps his best skill as a filmmaker is being able to put an iconic needle drop at exactly the right moment. Between the “Don’t Stop Me Now” scene in “Shaun of the Dead,” or basically the entire “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” and “Baby Driver,” the filmmaker knows how to blend music and film in the most fun way possible. This is to say, in addition to his excellent movie recommendations, you really should pay attention whenever he releases a Best Songs list.

As we do every year, we are taking a little break from film and TV to highlight some of the best songs released in 2020. What better way to do that than by showcasing Edgar Wright’s Spotify playlist for his Best Songs of 2020 list? Because everything in 2020 has to be done differently, Edgar Wright’s Best Songs list is no exception. Rather than a single 50-song list released in December, Wright actually released part 1 of his list back in July, and just now released part 2 of the list.

There may be no specific rankings or numbers, or even an explanation as to the order of the songs, but there’s bound to be something for everyone in this massive list. There’s everything from Fiona Apple, and HAIM, to Pearl Jam, Dua Lipa, and The Strokes.

Like every year, Wright gives fans an eclectic list with a little of what they’d expect, and a lot of things only the filmmaker would think of, resulting in the perfect way to cap off 2020.
