Can “Killing Eve’s” Jodie Comer win back to back? Doesn’t look like it. At this point, “Ozark’s” Laura Linney, “The Morning Show’s” Jennifer Aniston and “The Crown’s” Olivia “never count me out versus Glenn Close” Colman are battling for the win. This is potentially the tightest of any of the acting races. We’ve got three-time Emmy winner Linney in the lead at the moment because “Ozark” did so well with 18 nominations overall and this might be the easiest category for the Television Academy give it some love. That being said, Aniston has been a consistent player in the awards game since “The Morning Show” debuted and she also won this same honor from her peers at the SAG Awards (and guess who votes for this category?). As for Colman, she’s constantly underestimated and the branch has shown their love for “The Crown” when Claire Foy won it in 2018. And who knows, maybe this tight a race really does mean Comer finds a way to repeat. Honesty, it’s a pick ’em. [Updated August 31]
