Got a Tip?

FX Has Already Renewed ‘Atlanta’ For Season 4 & Will Begin Production On Both New Seasons In 2020

It’s been over a year since the acclaimed second season of “Atlanta” aired on FX. And in that time, fans have known that Donald Glover and Co. would return for a third season. However, it’s just been a matter of “when,” as Glover has taken time to focus on other creative endeavors. Well, FX has announced that not only is “Atlanta” beginning production on Season 3 in 2020, and Glover and the rest of the cast and crew will go ahead and film a Season 4 right after.

Today, FX announced that the Emmy-winning series “Atlanta” has already pre-emptively been renewed for Season 4 and that both the third and fourth seasons will begin filming in spring 2020. Glover, Paul Simms, Dianne McGunigle, Stephen Glover, and Hiro Murai are all producers on what has quickly become one of the crown jewels of the FX lineup in recent years.

“Atlanta” follows the story of Earn (Glover) as he teams with his friends to help launch the rap career of Paper Boi (Brian Tyree Henry). Zazie Beetz and Lakeith Stanfield co-star in the series along with Henry and Glover. Since its debut in 2016, “Atlanta” has gone on to win 5 Emmys and 2 Golden Globes.

Eric Schrier, President, FX Entertainment said, “What more can be said about Atlanta than the critical acclaim and accolades that Donald, Paul, Dianne, Stephen and Hiro have earned for two exceptional seasons of what is clearly one of the best shows on television. This group of collaborators and cast have created one of the most original, innovative stories of this generation and we are proud to be their partners.”

Seasons 3 and 4 will be eight episodes each and will presumably film back-to-back in 2020. No word on when we might get to see Season 3 debut, though it’s likely not going to happen until late-2020, at the earliest.
