3 ‘Ghost Stories’ Trailers: Martin Freeman Faces Supernatural Scares

If you didn’t get your Halloween kicks in over the weekend, the big day arrives tomorrow. All things haunted and spooky are on the menu – enjoy it while it lasts because come November 1st it’ll be time to start thinking about Christmas. So studios are getting in their promos while they can, and though “Ghost Stories” won’t be arriving until next year, Lionsgate has dropped three chilling teasers.

Starring Martin Freeman, Alex Lawther, Andy Nyman, Paul Whitehouse, and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, and directed by Jeremy Dyson and Andy Nyman, the movie is an adaptation of the hit stage show by the filmmakers, which follows a supernatural skeptic who has his beliefs tested. Here’s the official synopsis:

Phillip Goodman, professor of psychology, arch-skeptic, the one-man ‘belief buster’ – has his rationality tested to the hilt when he receives a letter apparently from beyond the grave. His mentor Charles Cameron, the ‘original’ TV parapsychologist went missing fifteen years before, presumed dead and yet now he writes to Goodman saying that the pair must meet. Cameron, it seems, is still very much alive. And he needs Goodman to find a rational explanation for three stories that have shaken Cameron to his core. As Goodman investigates, he meets three haunted people, each with a tale more frightening, uncanny and inexplicable than the last.

Though he had some minor issues, Oli Lyttelton wrote in his review that  “a willing, horror-friendly audience ready to jump out of their skins for this.” So get ready to get spooked next year with “Ghost Stories.”
