'Ghostlight' Exclusive Clip: A Man's Life Changes When He Discovers A Local Theater Troupe

When you see a film that bills itself as a family drama, you always have to make sure the members of the family are convincing enough. Well, that’s not a concern for the new film, “Ghostlight.” The family at the center of the film are an actual family offscreen, as well.

With “Ghostlight” arriving in select theaters this week, we’re thrilled to give our readers an exclusive look at a scene from the film. As mentioned, the movie features performances from three members of a family at the heart of the story, so you needn’t worry about chemistry. The film tells the story of a construction worker who is struggling quite a bit, but everything turns around when he discovers a local theater troupe.

The film stars Dolly De Leon, Keith Kupferer, Tara Mullen, and Katherine Mallen Kupferer. “Ghostlight” is directed by Alex Thompson and Kelly O’Sullivan, with the latter penning the script.

In the exclusive clip, we see De Leon’s Rita invite Dan to “play pretend” for an hour and join the theater troupe’s rehearsal of “Romeo & Juliet,” even though he doesn’t feel like he belongs.

“What I love the most about Rita was that she’s this resilient woman who never gives up, despite the fact that she’s encountered so many failures in life,” said De Leon. “She has turned out to be quite bitter. She still continues to do what she loves, and she’s never compromised that. It was such an honor for me to work with Alex Thompson and Kelly O’Sullivan, two people who are so talented and so brilliant but who at the same time have so much goodness in them.”

“Ghostlight” debuts in select theaters on June 14. You can watch the exclusive clip below.

Here’s the synopsis:

When melancholic construction worker Dan finds himself drifting from his wife and daughter, he discovers community and purpose in a local theater’s production of Romeo and Juliet. As the drama onstage starts to mirror his own life, he and his family are forced to confront a personal loss.
