The titular documentary about the ’90s Seattle rock band “The Gits,” will receive its theatrical release on July 17 – memorializing the 15-year anniversary of the death of lead singer Mia Zapata. The group were on the rise to fame riding the wave of the grunge era when tragedy struck and Zapata was senselessly raped and murdered – a crime which remained unsolved until the arrest and conviction of her murderer in 2004. The basketball movie featuring Lil Wayne, Bow Wow and Forest Whitaker has changed its name from, “Patriots,” to “Hurricane Season.” Lil Weezy, who just recently released Tha Carter III, has written an original song for the film, “Tie My Hands,” featuring Robin Thicke. Though the track is featured on the his just released third album, a special edition of the track will be available on the digital edition of the film’s soundtrack. “Hurricane Season” is due in theaters December 25. Madonna is pulling her Malawi documentary “I Am Because We Are,” from Glastonbury because “poor ticket sales for the festival put her off. After talks with organizers it was decided the festival was not the right venue to showcase the film.” [Variety]

The film stars Julia Roberts’ niece Emma as a rebellious teen from Malibu sent to an English boarding school, in London.
