It was recently revealed that Italian filmmaker Luca Guadagnino (“Queer,” “Challengers”) wouldn’t be shooting the DC Comics film “Sgt. Rock” this summer (as the pic is now stuck in limbo) and the expectation is he’ll be now focusing on his remake of the 2000 film “American Psycho” based on the Bret Easton Ellis novel for Lionsgate. Two actors now want in on the serial killer thriller, including one who appeared alongside Christian Bale in the original.
Chloë Sevigny, who played Patrick Bateman’s secretary and would-be victim Jean, has revealed to IndieWire that she has spoken to Guadagnino about getting a role for herself in the gestating remake.

“I pitched to him that I should play Jean again and that they do that reverse-aging on me. I thought that would be something that he would be into, conceptually having the same actress play the same part,” Sevigny told IndieWire of attempts to join the cast. “He said he was going to think of something else for me.”
She’s not the only actor throwing their hat in the ring to join the remake, as “The White Lotus” breakout Patrick Schwarzenegger is also campaigning for a part in “American Psycho” after responding to a fan on Twitter suggesting he should joine the pic with the response “I’d love nothing more.”
The original satirical film directed by Mary Harron took place in 1987, as we follow the handsome, young professional, Patrick Bateman (Bale), who lives a second life as a gruesome serial killer by night, mostly targeting women.
While there had been reports that in-demand leading man Austin Butler (“Caught Stealing”) would be playing the new Patrick Bateman. However, during the filmmaker’s appearance at this year’s CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Guadagnino failed to confirm any casting news or Butler’s involvement for the audience of exhibitors and industry press.
This lack of “American Psycho” casting confirmation makes us a little curious if Butler is indeed playing Bateman or could end up wanted for the Jared Leto role of Paul Allen. Bateman’s even more handsome and successful colleague, whom he’s extremely jealous of, including how stylish his business cards are, and the exclusive restaurants he frequents, while Bateman comically can’t even secure a reservation.
I guess we’ll just have to be patient as Guadagnino readies his version of “American Psycho.”
I’d love nothing more 😉
